2021 Broncos' Season, Draft Prospects

The NFL Draft is a week away, and the Broncos currently hold the No. 9 overall pick. So what will the team do with it? Below are a few options I think could be considered.

Quarterback:
Is Denver sold on Drew Lock? Probably not. This is a good quarterback class, so what could that mean for the Broncos? Trevor Lawrence figures to go at No. 1 to the Jaguars, and BYU's Zach Wilson seems a lock at No. 2 to the New York Jets. The San Francisco 49ers traded three First Round picks to get up to the No. 3 pick, which figures to be Justin Fields, Trey Lance or Mac Jones. Personally, I think it's Fields.

So the Broncos would need to probably give up a lot to get to No. 4 to take the fourth quarterback off the board, either Fields, Jones or Lance. Or the team could hope one falls to No. 9. Either way, I just don't think the Broncos end up with a quarterback, despite some of the rumors. I especially hope the team doesn't give up a huge package, up to and including three first round picks, to end up with the fourth QB off the board.

Offensive Line:
This is a decent possibility. Penei Sewell is the best tackle on the board, and he'll likely go before No. 9. If not, he'd be an incredible pick. Rashawn Slater would be a fine option, too. Or the Broncos could wait and add to the offensive line in the second or third round. The team needs to take a couple players at the position to solidify it, but it doesn't have to be in the First Round. It could be, but it doesn't have to be.

Cornerback:
Earlier in the off-season the rumor the Broncos could look at a top corner in the draft. However, the team signed Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby this off-season, which seems to reduce the demand and need at the position. While the Broncos could and should add to the secondary in the draft, it doesn't need to be at No. 9.

Micah Parsons:
That leads me to the pick I think they make, and one that would be good for the team. Micah Parsons is a strong linebacker prospect out of Penn State. Adding him to the middle with Alexander Johnson would give the Broncos' defense a strong spine, with Justin Simmons back there at safety. That seems like a road to building a top unit that can help get the Broncos back to the playoffs. It's a pick I like and one I think helps Denver quest back toward the playoffs.

We'll see who the Broncos pick, and where, when the First Round airs next Thursday night.
