2021 Broncos' Season, Roster Projections

We're on the cusp of Training Camp, and over the next six weeks the Broncos will narrow down the group that will become the final 53. Before it kicks off, I'm going to make my fearless predictions!

QB (2):
* Drew Lock
* Teddy Bridgewater

About: The Broncos could keep three QBs, but I think they'll keep just two. I think Lock is the starter and Bridgewater is the insurance. I suspect Rypien will end up on the Practice Squad for emergencies.

RB (4):
* Melvin Gordon
* Javonte Williams
* Mike Boone
* Damarea Crockett

About: I'm projecting four, but maybe not the four you expected. Gordon, Williams and Boone are locks. I think Royce Freeman is either traded or released, and the Broncos keep a younger guy for depth. I went with Crockett, who had good size.

WR (6):
* Courtland Sutton
* Jerry Jeudy
* K.J. Hamler
* Tim Patrick
* Kendall Hinton
* Warren Jackson

About: I picked six here. Sutton, Jeudy, Patrick and Hamler are locks. What about the rest? Diontae Spencer could make it as a returner, but I think the Broncos have other guys they want to keep. Jackson would continue the tradition of undrafted free agents, while reports say Hinton has been killing it in camp.

TE (3):
* Noah Fant
* Albert Okwuegbunam
* Andrew Beck

About: The decision at tight end is simpler in 2021 than previous years. Fant and Okwuegbunam are the receivers, Beck is a great blocker. This seems like the easy group to pick.

OL (9):
* Garrett Bolles
* Bobbie Massie
* Dalton Risner
* Graham Glasgow
* Lloyd Cushenberry III
* Quinn Meinerz
* Netane Muti
* Calvin Anderson
* Austin Schlottman

About: I kept nine in this group to give the Broncos more options and depth. Guard is the team's strongest and deepest position, so I kept Glasgow, Risner, Muti, Meinerz and Schlottman. It's possible one goes, but the Broncos would be well served to have them all.

DL (6):
* Shelby Harris
* Dre'Mont Jones
* Mike Purcell
* McTelvin Agim
* DeShawn Williams
* Jonathan Harris

About: The Broncos should keep six, but what six? Harris, Jones and Purcell are locks, and I think Agim and Williams have an inside track. The sixth is more of a toss up for me at the moment.

LB (9):
* Von Miller
* Bradley Chubb
* A.J. Johnson
* Josey Jewell
* Malik Reed
* Baron Browning
* Justin Strnad
* Jonathan Cooper
* Josh Watson

About: The Broncos have a good LB group, and I projected nine kept here, including a pair of rookies. It's possible Cooper goes to the DL group, which shakes things up, but I'm going by the positions currently listed. Miller and Chubb, Johnson and Jewell figure to start. But Reed, Strnad and Browning are all in that next group with Cooper and Watson adding depth.

DB (11):
* Kyle Fuller
* Ronald Darby
* Bryce Callahan
* Patrick Surtain II
* Essang Bassey
* Michael Ojemudia
* Kary Vincent, Jr.
* Kareem Jackson
* Justin Simmons
* Trey Marshall
* Caden Sterns

About: I kept 11, which is a lot. It could have been more. The Broncos have tons of talent here, and I think many of these guys can contribute on Special Teams. I have seven CBs and four safeties in this group, but it could be six and five. One of Jamar Johnson, Sterns and Vincent will likely miss and they'll try to get them on the Practice Squad. Right now I have Johnson, but I suspect that can change quickly.

ST (3):
* Brandon McManus
* Sam Martin
* Jacob Bobenmoyer

About: These are the only three specialists on the roster, so this feels like a lock.
