2021 Broncos' Season, Final Roster Projections

The pre-season is over and the Broncos are set to begin the regular season on September 12. Before that happens, the roster will go from 80, where it now sits, to 53. Below is my final prediction for who is on the 53-man roster at the end of tomorrow's cuts.

QB (2):
* Teddy Bridgewater
* Drew Lock

About: Carrying three quarterbacks is a luxury, and I don't think the Broncos can afford it. Hopefully Brett Rypien makes it to the Practice Squad.

RB (4):
* Melvin Gordon
* Javonte Williams
* Royce Freeman
* Mike Boone

About: Will one of these guys get traded? Possible, but for now I'm leaning now. And with Mike Boone likely not yet healthy, I think the Broncos keep four. I liked Damarea Crockett and Stevie Scott III, but it feels like they're more likely for the Practice Squad unless Gordon or Freeman moves.

WR (6):
* Courtland Sutton
* Jerry Jeudy
* Tim Patrick
* K.J. Hamler
* Trinity Benson
* Diontae Spencer

About: The Broncos could keep seven here, and there will be tough cuts if it's six. But I see other positions of need and I think Benson earned a spot and the others are more likely Practice Squad guys.

TE (4):
* Noah Fant
* Albert Okwuegbunam
* Eric Saubert
* Andrew Beck

About: The Broncos have some good depth here and it feels like these four should be locks, especially with Beck flexing to the Fullback position.

Offensive Line (9)):
* Garrett Bolles
* Bobbie Massie
* Graham Glasgow
* Dalton Risner
* Lloyd Cushenberry III
* Calvin Anderson
* Cameron Flemming
* Netane Muti
* Quinn Meinerz

About: I think the Broncos keep nine, and of that group we see four tackles to give maximum flexibility. I wanted to find room for Austin Schlottman, but I just don't see it happening at this point.

Defensive Line (6):
* Shelby Harris
* Mike Purcell
* Dre'Mont Jones
* DeShawn Williams
* McTelvin Agim
* Shamar Stephen

About: Harris-Jones-Purcell are the starters. They're locks. Williams and Agim feel like locks as well. The sixth spot is a bit of a question, but I'm going with Stephen.

Linebackers (8):
* Von Miller
* Bradley Chubb
* Malik Reed
* Jonathan Harris
* Alexander Johnson
* Josey Jewell
* Baron Browning
* Justin Strnad

About: This is a good group and also feels like a group that's locked. It's a blend of strong veterans and young and up-and-coming players.

Defensive Backs (11):
* Kyle Fuller
* Ronald Darby
* Bryce Callahan
* Patrick Surtain II
* Michael Ojemudia
* Saivion Smith
* Justin Simmons
* Kareem Jackson
* Caden Sterns
* P.J. Locke
* Trey Marshall

About: Essang Bassey and Duke Dawson are on the PUP List, and I think they stay there for now. The team has a great amount of depth here. It's also possible someone like Callahan is dealt, so stay tuned. But, for now, I think they all stay and the Broncos keep 11 to help on Special Teams. Ojemudia is likely unavailable for a few weeks, and Marshall is ailing, too. But, this depth provides some security.

Special Teams (3):
* Brandon McManus
* Sam Martin
* Jacob Bobenmoyer

About: This unit is locked and has been for a while.
