2021 Broncos' Season, Roster Projections, Pre-Season Week 1

The Broncos played their first pre-season game and have to make the first round of cuts this week. As will be the case every week of pre-season, I'll make my fearless predictions for the Final 53-man roster.

QB (2):
* Drew Lock
* Teddy Bridgewater

About: I think the Broncos roll with just two, ideally Lock starting and Teddy in reserve.

RB (4):
* Melvin Gordon
* Javonte Williams
* Mike Boone
* Royce Freeman

About: Boone got injured this week, meaning I think the Broncos keep four backs (or possibly three if Boone ends up on IR). That gives Freeman a great shot at sticking, though he'd previously been squarely on the roster bubble.

WR (6):
* Courtland Sutton
* Jerry Jeudy
* Tim Patrick
* K.J. Hamler
* Trinity Benson
* Diontae Spencer

About: I am confident that the team keeps six, it's just a matter of which six. I still think Spencer could be on the bubble, but it's tough to say for sure. Benson had a GREAT first pre-season game, and I think he could well be on the way to making the final group.

TE (4):
* Noah Fant
* Albert Okwuegbunam
* Andrew Beck
* Eric Saubert

About: It looks like the Broncos may be keeping four tight ends, and Saubert impressed in Week 1, so for now he's on the list for me.

OL (9):
* Garrett Bolles
* Calvin Anderson
* Dalton Risner
* Graham Glasgow
* Lloyd Cushenberry
* Netane Muti
* Quinn Meinerz
* Bobbie Massie
* Austin Schlottman

About: The Broncos could keep just eight here, but I think they may want to go to nine. I feel like Anderson has the inside track to winning the right tackle job, but either way I believe Massie will make the final roster. The Broncos are crazy deep at guard, but Schlottman could be a brutal cut.

DL (6)
* Shelby Harris
* Dre'Mont Jones
* Mike Purcell
* McTelvin Agim
* DeShawn Williams
* Deyon Sizer

About: Defensive line feels like the thinnest of the Broncos' positions. I like the potential starting three, but I have questions about depth.

LB (9):
* Von Miller
* Bradley Chubb
* Malik Reed
* Jonathan Cooper
* Josey Jewell
* Alexander Johnson
* Justin Strnad
* Baron Browning
* Josh Watson

About: Watson is a good veteran and Strnad has impressed so far. I think Browning stays, too. That leaves five on the inside. Cooper is working at outside linebacker instead of defensive line, and figures to be part of the group behind Von and Chubb.

DB (10):
* Kyle Fuller
* Ronald Darby
* Bryce Callahan
* Patrick Surtain II
* Essang Bassey
* Michael Ojemudia
* Justin Simmons
* Kareem Jackson
* Trey Marshall
* Caden Sterns

About: This is the toughest unit to forecast. The Broncos are loaded at corner, and I think they have to keep six. Safety is a tough question, too. I wouldn't be shocked if they keep more than 10 in the secondary, but I'd be floored if they keep less than 10. There will be some tough cuts here. For now, I'm keeping Bassey, Ojemudia, Marshall and Sterns as my bubble four.

Special Teams (3):
* Brandon McManus
* Sam Martin
* Jacob Bobenmoyer

About: This is the easiest prediction of the whole team. They have three specialists and three spots, this is a lock.
