Favorite Broncos of All Time, Kickers

Last off-season I ticked down my favorite Broncos of All Time. This off-season, to pass the weeks until we get football, I'm going to be sharing my Top 5 at each position, plus an Honorable Mention. Today I continue with kickers.

1. Jason Elam (1993-2007)
Stats:
395 Field Goals Made, 601 Extra Points Made, 63-yard long
About: Elam was the Broncos' kicker for most of my formative years, including the Super Bowl. He nailed a 63-yard kick that was a thrill to watch. He made field goals at better than an 80 percent clip and was a lot of fun to watch.

2. Matt Prater (2007-2013)
Stats:
141 Field Goals Made, 249 Extra Points Made, 64-yard long
About: Prater followed Elam and did him one better on the longest field goal. He had a great run and has continued to be a solid kicker since leaving Denver. He was one of my favorites to watch.

3. Rich Karlis (1982-988)
Stats:
137 Field Goals Made, 244 Extra Points Made, 51-yard long
About: Karlis was the Broncos' kicker during some Super Bowl runs and was famous for kicking barefoot. He was a solid kicker, but didn't have the leg of those above him on this list. His 71-percent accuracy was also lower. But he was a memorable part of the Broncos' kicking attack.

4. Brandon McManus (2014-)
Stats:
169 Field Goals Made, 219 Extra Points Made, 58-yard long
About: McManus is the Broncos' current kicker. He hasn't made one over 60 yards yet, but I think he could. He's been in that nearly 82 percent accuracy range, too, which is huge. He's also the team's player rep and is a fun presence on the sidelines.

5. David Treadwell (1989-1992)
Stats:
135 Field Goals Made, 182 Extra Points Made, 49-yard long
About: Treadwell was the only other Broncos' kicker of my lifetime, and the least memorable of the five. He was more accurate than Karlis, but didn't seem to have a big leg. He was a solid bridge between Karlis and Elam, leading to all that followed. But he makes the list.

Honorable Mention: Tom Rouen (1993-2002)
Stats:
641 punts for 28,146 yards, 43.9 average, 76-yard long
About: Rouen was the Broncos' punter for many years, including the Super Bowl years. Not a lot of thought is given to punters, but Rouen made a team with Elam for a long time, and that was fun to watch.
