2021 Broncos' Season, Week 12

Week 12: Denver Broncos 28, Los Angeles Chargers 13
Season Record: 6-5 (3-3 Home)
Key Play: In the Fourth Quarter, with the Broncos leading 21-7, Chargers' quarterback Justin Herbert threw a pass toward Austin Ekeler. He missed the ball, popped it up and it was intercepted by Patrick Surtain II, who returned it for a touchdown.

Recap: The Broncos finished the first half of their season 5-5 before heading into a bye week. Coming out of the bye, the team has seven games, five of which will be against the AFC West. That began with the Chargers on Sunday. The Chargers came into the game looking for a win to move into first in the division. Instead, a smothering Denver defense and just enough offense led to a Broncos' victory. Now, the Broncos sit at 6-5, along with the Chargers and Raiders, while the Chiefs are just 7-4. That means with six weeks left, all four teams are over .500 and the division is wide open. The Broncos have four division games left, in addition to battles with the playoff-contending Bengals and the Lions. It will be how the team performs down the stretch that will tell the tale. Pre-season I pegged the Broncos are a 9-8 team and I still think that's possible. Is it good enough? We shall soon see.

Game Balls:
* Javonte Williams
. The rookie running back has been a workhorse and a big play weapon. He caught three passes for 57 yards, rushing for 54 more yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
* Patrick Surtain II. The rookie corner has been the Broncos' best pass coverage weapon, notching two interceptions including one returned for a touchdown in Sunday's win.

Lingering Questions:
* The AFC West.
The West will be won by fighting with the West. The Broncos have games with the Chargers and Raiders on the road in addition to a home and home with the Chiefs. That will decide their playoff fate.
