Upcoming Releases, June 2022

 


We're through May and June is upon us, with the big summer blockbusters continuing to fly fast and furiously, along with other films. Here's a look at what to expect for the month of June!

Friday, June 3:
Interceptor (Netflix): Elsa Pataky takes the lead here as a tough-as-nails Army Captain on a mission to stop a coordinated attack. Netflix has done well with action films and this is perfectly timed for the summer season.

Fire Island (Hulu): If action isn't your thing, how about a romance? This film on Hulu is a modern day romance inspired by Pride and Prejudice. 

Wednesday, June 8:
Hustle (Netflix): The latest from Adam Sandler finds him as a down-on-his-luck basketball scout. Sandler has done well in his partnership with Netflix, so this will no doubt please his fans. This also looks like a bit of a more serious film, one that could continue to show Sandler's range.

Friday, June 10:
Jurassic World: Dominion (Theaters): This is the sixth film in the Jurassic franchise, this one returning the original stars alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. This promises to be the end of the era, and I'm pretty hyped to see what the film has to offer. This could be the biggest release of the summer season.

Tuesday, June 14:
Halftime (Netflix): The latest from Netflix is a documentary on Jennifer Lopez. The trailer is interesting and no doubt the documentary will be a fascinating watch.

Wednesday, June 15:
My Fake Boyfriend (Amazon Prime): This one finds a young man faking an online boyfriend to keep an ex at bey. It ends up creating a tough situation when he finds the person who could be the one. Hilarity ensues. This is a familiar formula that will rise or fall based on how you feel about the characters.

Thursday, June 16:
Father of the Bride (HBO Max): This re-make finds Andy Garcia as the titular father, this time in a modern update about a Cuban-American family. The original is a classic, so this will have to do a lot to compete with that.

Friday, June 17:
Lightyear (Theaters): The latest from Disney is this animated tale that shows the man that inspired the Buzz Lightyear doll from Toy Story! Chris Evans takes the lead voice slot in this film that could be one of the biggest family releases of the summer.

Brian and Charles (Theaters): This dramedy focuses on a lonely inventor who, after days in isolation, develops an artificial intelligence. This one is flying under-the-radar and seems like the kind of film that could easily get lost in theaters during the peak of summer.

Good Luck to You Leo Grande (Hulu): A darling from the Sundance Film Festival, this one finds Emma Thompson as a retired teacher who forms an affair with a sex worker. It could be a big get for Hulu.

Cha Cha Real Smooth (Apple TV+): Last year Apple TV+ scored a Best Picture win with a film bought from the Sundance Film Festival. This time they're trying it again with a romance starring Dakota Johnson and writer/director Cooper Raiff.

Spiderhead (Netflix): Chris Hemsworth takes the lead in this futuristic film where he's running a prison that has a unique way of keeping prisoners in line. Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett co-star in the film, which looks like an interesting addition to the Netflix library.

Jerry and Marge Go Larger (Paramount+): This film features Bryan Cranston and Annette Benning play a married couple who figure out how to cheat the Massachusetts lottery. Based on a true story, this is a fun original film for the streaming service.

Sunday, June 19:
Civil (Netflix): This documentary feature looks at the life of civil rights attorney Ben Crump. It's likely to appeal to those that want to learn more about the world.

Friday, June 24:
Elvis (Theaters): The latest from Baz Luhrmann focuses on the King of Rock and Roll. It takes a look at Elvis (Austin Butler) and his relationship with his prickly manager Col. Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). Expect some stunning visuals, and I don't just mean the makeup used on Hanks.

Black Phone (Theaters): This horror film stars Ethan Hawke and focuses on a 13-year-old boy who has been abducted by a sadistic killer. Horror films are a staple year round, and this one certainly has a unique hook and a top cast.

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need.
