2022 Broncos' Season, Week 6

Week 6: Los Angeles Chargers 19, Denver Broncos 16
Season Record: 2-4 (2-1 Home)
Key Play: In overtime, on a punt, P.J. Locke was pushed into returner Montrell Washington, who muffed the punt. The Chargers recovered and kicked the 39-yard field goal to get the win.

Recap: Where to begin. The Broncos look bad. The team is winless on the road, now 0-3. The team is 1-3 in Prime Time. The team continues to lead the league in stupid with penalties, bad plays and inconsistent offensive performances. Nathaniel Hackett seems out of his depth, and it's not getting any better. The Broncos had 10 penalties for 151 yards. This has been a trend for six weeks and we're not seeing improvement. The defense is playing hard and continuing to do well to keep the opponents production low. The problem is the offense for the Broncos remains stuck in the mud. Russell Wilson started the game 10-for-10 for 116 yards as the Broncos led 10-0 after one quarter. In nearly four full quarters after (including overtime) Wilson completed just 5-for-18 passes as the Broncos scored just six more points. The team has less than a week before facing a hot Jets team at home on Sunday. After that, it's off to London and the Jaguars, then a bye week. Maybe the team can get it right in the next three weeks but the more time that passes the harder that is to believe. I'm of the opinion Hackett needs to go, it's probably just a matter of how long the Broncos languish before that happens. We need some Mile High Magic, and we need it quickly.

Game Balls:
* Greg Dulcich
. The rookie tight end made his debut on Monday and made an impact, catching two passes for 44 yards and the Broncos' lone touchdown.
* Alex Singleton. The linebacker has been solid. He had 21 tackles including 19 solo tackles. He was a beast.

Lingering Questions:
* Sloppy Play.
The Broncos need to clean up the penalties and missed opportunities. The self-inflicted wounds continue to set the team back.
* Game Plan and Playcalling. It's been abysmal, and it isn't showing signs of improvement.
* Running Back. Melvin Gordon was held out of most of the game and was visibly confused and upset on the sidelines. The Broncos need answers and need to figure out what to do moving forward.
