Favorite Superhero Movies, No. 11

Throughout 2023 I'll be sharing my favorite Superhero Films each Saturday, counting down from 50 to 1. Check back each week throughout the year for the next installment. Agree? Disagree? What to share a favorite? Post it in the comments.

Charles Xavier: You know, Logan... this is what life looks like. A home, people who love each other. Safe place. You should take a moment and feel it.

Logan (2017)
Starring:
Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, and Boyd Holbrook
Director: James Mangold
About: I've mentioned before that Batman is my favorite superhero. A close second is Wolverine. In addition to all the X-Men films, we got three stand alone Wolverine films. I don't love them, or at least the first two. This third film is a work of art. It's a darker take on Wolverine, an R-rated film that sees him and Charles Xavier near the end of their time. The violence works well as does the addition of Dafne Keen. Boyd Holbrook is a solid villain, too. But this is really about Jackman and Stewart, two performers near the top of their craft delivering a stirring performance. This was an unexpected gem and it remains just that, which is why it nearly cracked the Top 10 on this list!
