Games of the Week

It’s Thanksgiving week. We had three games on Thursday and another game today. That combined with a Monday game means that even with all 32 teams in action, we have less to choose from on the Sunday slate. Still, we have some intriguing options. Below are the five games on the Sunday slate I’m most excited to see.

Early Games:

New Orleans Saints (5-5) at Atlanta Falcons (4-6)
About:
The race in the NFC South is going to be tight again. The Saints are currently leading the division, but the Falcons are poised to make a run. A win at home on Sunday would even the race. The Falcons are going back to Desmond Ridder for the rest of the season so we’ll see if he can make a difference and spark the Falcons’ offense. This should be an interesting battle.

Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4) at Cincinnati Bengals (5-5)
About:
Don’t expect a ton of points here. The Steelers’ offense has been in a funk for more than a season and the Bengals lost Joe Burrow for the season last week. Still, these two teams have a shot at the post-season. Both are coming off tough losses in Week 11 and both need a win here to keep those playoff hopes going. Who will come out on top in this AFC North battle?

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-3) at Houston Texans (6-4)
About:
Who would have thought we’d get a crucial playoff battle in the AFC South featuring the Texans in Week 12? That’s how great the turnaround has been so far this season. The Texans also beat the Jaguars earlier this season in Jacksonville, so a win here would put them in first place and give them a tiebreaker in the division. The Jaguars, meanwhile, need a win to keep pace with the other division leaders in the AFC. This one has some serious stakes.

Late Games:

Cleveland Browns (7-3) at Denver Broncos (5-5)
About:
The Browns got a huge win last week despite losing Deshaun Watson for the season. Dorian Thompson-Robinson gets another start as the Browns’ defense looks to push the team to eight wins and improve their playoff standings. The Broncos, meanwhile, are the league’s hottest team. After a 1-5 start, the Broncos have won four straight to jump into the playoff race. Can they make it five in a row and jump over .500 for the first time this season?

Buffalo Bills (6-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (9-1)
About:
The Bills are on the cusp of the AFC playoff picture and showed out much better on offense in Week 11. A win against the Eagles would have them on pace before their late season bye week. The Eagles, meanwhile, have the best record in the NFL and got a huge win Monday night. They’re in the midst of their last tough stretch of the season. This game has big stakes for both teams.
