2023 Broncos' Season, Week 16

Week 16: New England Patriots 26, Denver Broncos 23
Season Record: 7-8 (4-4 Home)
Key Play: With two seconds left, the Patriots' kicked, Chad Ryland hit a 57-yard field goal to give the Patriots a 26-23 lead.

Recap: All good things come to an end. That happens, too, when you have hope for a playoff run that comes crashing down on Christmas Eve no less. On a cold night in Denver, the Broncos fell way behind, fought their way back, then blew it at the end. It feels like a metaphor for the season, where the Broncos started 1-5, fought their way back into the playoff picture, and have blown it at the worst time. The Broncos were 7-6, in the thick of the race. Back-to-back losses have them at 7-8 with two games left, just a five percent shot at the playoffs. Still, this season has been a step forward. The team needs to keep improving and needs more consistency on offense and defense to make it back to the post-season. Those things will have to wait for 2024. For now, it's a focus on finishing strong, finishing above .500 and handing the Chargers and Raiders another loss.

Game Balls:
* Brandon Johnson.
He caught three passes for 47 yards and a touchdown, catching a two-point conversion as well. He's a young receiver the Broncos could build around.
* Lucas Krull. The young tight end caught four passes for 28 yards and a touchdown. He shows potential.

Lingering Questions:
* Finishing Strong.
Despite the situation, it would be nice to see the Broncos finish with a pair of division wins.
* Off-Season Changes. This team needs help, especially among playmakers.
