2023 Broncos' Season, Off-Season Goals

The Broncos finished the season at 8-9 and head into an off-season of uncertainty. The first season with Sean Payton was OK. The Broncos had some low moments and some moments where they seemed to take a step forward. But now the focus is on how the Broncos can compete in 2024. Below are some things I think the team needs.

* Figure Out the Quarterback. In the end-of-the-season press conferences, the Broncos indicated Russell Wilson might be back. I can't help but wonder how that's going to work. If Wilson is back, how does this team and offense move forward. If Wilson isn't back, who handles the quarterback position? The Broncos are likely to be in a rough salary cap position, but this is the most important position for the team and one they need to nail.

* Nail the Draft. The Broncos haven't had a First Round pick in a couple of years. Now they have a big one and it's going to be crucial that they get it right.

* Clarify the Weapons. On paper, the Broncos have a lot of options. But Jerry Jeudy hasn't worked out and Greg Dulcich can't seem to stay on the field. Combine that with a curious backfield rotation, and they wasn't enough consistency among playmakers.

* Work on the Offense. It's been a decade since the Broncos' offense was fun to watch. Even during the Super Bowl-winning season, it was more about the defense. It would be nice to have it be fun watching Broncos' games again.

* Shore Up the Defense. The Broncos' defense was up-and-down, but seemed to find its way mid-season. This off-season will be about adding the right pieces to make the defense work.

* Rebuild the Team's Reputation. I think the Broncos' reputation as an organization took a big hit in 2023. This off-season, and the regular season to come, will be about restoring that and trying to attract top talent once again.
