Oscar Reactions


 

The 96th Oscars telecast took place last night and it mostly went as expected. I ended up going 16-for-23 in picks, including most of the top awards. Below are some quick thoughts on the telecast.

Oppenheimer dominates
The favorite did, indeed, have a big night. It won seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey, Jr., got awards for their work. I was also thrilled to see Nolan finally win an Academy Award.

Poor Things does well
It won four total awards, including Best Actress for Emma Stone. It was a fascinating film and it was interesting to see it take so many awards. Stone gave my favorite performance of the year, so I was pleased to see her get the win.

Killers of the Flower Moon, Past Lives, and Maestro shut out
These three films, all in the Best Picture race with multiple nominations, went home empty-handed. It's not completely unexpected but it's a bit of a surprise.

I'm Just Ken steals the show
Ryan Gosling was amazing and I loved the performance of that song. It was one of the high points of the night.

That's a wrap on the 2023 movie award season and now we're on to 2024! It was a great year for movies and it was a fun Oscars to wrap up the year!

Broncos Draft Targets

  The NFL Draft is just a few days away. On April 25, the Denver Broncos will head into the draft in the midst of something of a rebuild. In the draft, the Broncos have the No. 12 pick in Round 1, then have a Third Round Pick, Fourth Round Pick, three Fifth Round Picks, a Sixth Round Pick, and a Seventh Round Pick. So, what might they be targeting? Let's dive in and look at possible positions. Quarterback : The team clearly needs a long-term quarterback. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are there but the team could certainly use someone else. Could they move up for Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy? Yes, they could. Will the take Bo Nix at 12? It's possible. Or will the Broncos wait until next off-season to make a move? Anything is in play for the Broncos in 2024, but quarterback is surely a need. Tight End: The team brought back Adam Trautman and still has Greg Dulcich, but it's still a need. Dulcich hasn't been able to get on the field and Trautman hasn't been great. Co
